Here at Mercy Community, we recognise the need for long term, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) for adults with complex needs.
We understand there is not a ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to providing Specialist Disability Accommodation. We operate a range of SDA housing options for those who require SDA as part of their ‘reasonable and necessary’ NDIS supports.
People living in SDA houses often require assistance with daily living, and have funding for Supported Independent Living (SIL) services in their plan. When residing in a Mercy Community house, you can decide to engage our SIL services or choose another provider to support you in this way.
Should you decide to engage our SIL services, our team will take the time to understand your needs and what’s important to you. We will then prepare a tailored support program together that enhances your independence, meets your personal goals, and helps you live safely and happily in the comfort of your home.
If Specialist Disability Accommodation is included in your NDIS Plan as a ‘reasonable and necessary’ support, there won’t be any out of pocket expense.
It is funded in the ‘Capital Supports – Home’ support category of your NDIS plan. If it isn’t included in your Plan, you can request a review with the NDIA.
